Lesson Terms
Trial Period
New students start with a paid 4-lesson trial period. After completing the trial, students who wish to continue will be enrolled in the regular lesson schedule for the current term.
Lesson Periods
Lessons are scheduled by the season:
Fall: September – December
Winter: January – March
Spring: April – June
Summer: July – August
Fees & Payments
Tuition is due in advance of your first lesson.
First payment must be completed before your first lesson in order to access the support website and course materials.
Payments can be made in full or in 2–4 instalments, depending on the number of lessons. Due dates and lesson dates are listed on your invoice.
Preferred payment: Interac E-Transfer (Cash and Cheques also accepted)
Late payments: Instalments more than 1 month overdue will incur a $25 late fee.
Lesson Cancellations
To cancel a lesson, email me 24+ hours in advance. If it’s under 24 hours, please call instead.
When you can’t attend in person, you have several options:
Video Lesson: Most students choose this. A recording will be made during your scheduled lesson time and delivered within 24 hours.
Zoom Lesson: A live online option during your normal time.
Make-up Lesson: We’ll try to reschedule within the same week. If rescheduling isn’t possible, a video lesson will be provided.
Teacher Cancellations
If I cancel a lesson, you may choose a make-up session, a video lesson, credit toward your next invoice, or a refund.
Missed Lessons & Rescheduling Policy
I understand that life gets busy — here’s how we handle missed lessons:
Planned Absences (with advance notice)
If you know in advance that you’ll miss a lesson, please let me know at least one week before, or ideally at the start of the lesson term.
In these cases, we can reschedule up to 2 lessons per term.
If rescheduling isn’t possible, we’ll do the lesson via Zoom or I’ll provide a personalized video lesson.
Unplanned Absences (like illness)
If you’re sick or something last-minute comes up, we don’t reschedule — but I’ll still make sure you don’t miss out.
You’ll receive either a recorded lesson or the option to do it live via Zoom, depending on what makes sense for that week.
Special Circumstances
If something out of the ordinary comes up, feel free to reach out. We’ll handle it case-by-case with care and flexibility.
Ending Lessons & Cancellation Policy
Normally, students complete lessons through the end of the scheduled lesson period. However, if you decide to end lessons early, please follow these guidelines:
Notice: Provide at least 1 week’s notice before the next lesson period starts.
Cancellation Fee: A $25 cancellation fee applies if you end lessons before the lesson period ends.
Refund: Any remaining paid lessons after your end date will be refunded, minus the cancellation fee.
Trial Period Exception: No cancellation fee is charged if you end lessons during the initial trial period.
Example:
For the Fall Term, there are 16 lessons scheduled. If you cancel one week before your 10th lesson, you will receive a refund for the remaining 6 lessons, minus the $25 cancellation fee.
Special Circumstances
Gaps in your schedule: When at the time of scheduling your lessons you know of dates when you or your child cannot make specific lesson dates, or in other special cases, please notify me when booking or paying for your lessons so we can look for solutions.
Please note that this must be done before the lesson period starts; once the period has begun, any cancellations will fall under the normal cancellation terms.
Cancellation fee: Exceptions to the cancellation fee may apply in certain circumstances, such as medical emergencies.
